Don’t judge an interior by it’s frontage

My weekend in Amsterdam was pretty focussed on design and had me craving my own place. So as the crazy compulsive kid that I am, I started thinking about what my interior would look like and put that in a collage.

I’ve always thought that my taste for interior design could be described as minimalism. But whenever I google images of minimalism, I feel the rooms are still a bit packed. I’m the type of girl that would keep the walls and floors bare, like a blank canvas. This way it’s the furniture and not the paint that adds personality to the room.

I might not be able to name the style that I like, but I can surely show you guys.

You can view all these images and more on my pinterest board ‘One Day’.

Eames dining chairs, huge windows and even taller bare, concrete walls. Maybe I should just name my style concreteïsm until someone can tell me what it’s really called.

What type of interior do you like?

If you want the ultimate in minimalism, I’d suggest you check out some of Tadao Ando’s work. He’s internationally renown for his bare concrete architecture. Even had a style of concrete surface finishing named after him ;).

Two of my other personal favourites: the Barcelona Pavilion and Farnsworth House, both by Mies van der Rohe.

Japanese interior designers are best when it comes to minimalist interior design. They are great in combining great space with interesting furniture. Tadao’s is one of my favorite designers for this style.

I hadn’t even looked up Tadao’s work before. But since it seems to be a recurring theme in the comments, I did. I’m in love!
